I have been looking at a few example link sites, the link on this page is not active. You cannot follow the link but Yahoo shows it as an active back link. I thought all links had to be clickable links.

Couple of comments here
1) What you've just done, intentional or not, is call out one of your competitors for having crappy links. I don't know if you meant to, and I don't care. I'm just saying thats not an amazingly cool thing to do
2) Full marks for asking questions and trying to learn, but not so many for actually looking and thinking about things. Spotting that link there isn't all that hard. I'm not having a go, because there was a time when I wouldn't have necessarily spotted it either, but you're trying to do too much all at once. You'll learn more, more quickly by trying to work things out for yourself, and asking questions when you get *really* stuck, rather than just asking everything that comes to mind
3) The real lesson here is look at sites in "view source", not a browser. Thats what SEs see, not the prity piktyures. To understand what SEs are doing, you have to be like the SEs. Very Zen, that
