I have read a few times that Squidoo is good for backlinks however I set up backlinks on the site over two weeks ago and they are still not showing on Yahoo Explorer.

Is this because Yahoo hasn't found them yet, yahoo doesn't show them or Squidoo is no follow links?

As I recall they are dofollow, have you tried checking to see if the lens itself is indexed by yahoo yet? If not then there's your problem.

squidoo is thing of the past when they got high ranking because of google trust...
I could see no value spending hours to make a good looking lens when you could have a website also.. it still makes me laugh when I remember those threads over at the warrior board where self acclaimed lens queen sold a lens for 300 - 400 bucks :tup
forget to mention the link http://www.potpiegirl.com/2009/06/sq...olicy-changes/ but there is info about the changed policy here on this board aswell - try google...

I don't think they would kill your affiliate site, if you have a lense and you have links to your site, just leave it...if it give you traffic, I don't think there's a problem as long as you don't 20 lenses shouting the same messages and links. If you could harm a another site through squiddoo links then, it would just get even more ridiculous. But, at the end of the day...what do I know...we are all still learning Thanks for the link Bjoern30 nice read

I have read a number of times that you shouldn't do to many articles because will question why you have so many links.

However you can use different anchor text for each link.

The thing that puzzles me is that if Star Wars were to launch a website for a new movie it will attract thousands of links within a short period of time and according to what I've read that could damage its SEO performance.

It would be likely that in such an instance that the links would come from a wide variety of sources and many of these would be high pr and very relevant.

The warning you refer to would involve someone getting lots of links from a limited number of directory type/non-relevant and un-trusted sources.

This isn't something to worry about unless you are a spam monkey

@thebusiness - I guess you are right (bytheway I saw the movie )
now we are talking about getting links from squidoo - business is right if squidoo is your only source of links and the reason for your ranking a competitor will call you out for "spamming" - I think thats the main reason and not the algo itself (its getting tough at the top)

I tried Squidoo but not satisfied with this .

could you get a lense ranked high or what was the reason you were not satisfied???
In those old days you would just put up a lense with some keywords and then the lense would rank high - nowadays I just use them for backlinks..There even some ways how you could automate this but thats another story...

I donot think because yahoo siteexplorer contains all the backlink as I know. I also faced this kind of incident but still getting good result over squidoo. I have made three lens on squidoo and all are featured and having good category ranks let's say about 200.
