Your SEO Experiences?

I launched a site last January which has a page rank of 3 and is number one if Google however I started the site as a hobby and got to number one by luck more than judgement.

In the last few weeks I launched a series of sites which I will be adding content and back links to however I have no real idea how they will perform.

Does anyone have any positive experiences with Google placement and knowledge of how their sites will perform?

Its not an exact science but with experience you can more or less guess/place where you'll end up.

What factors do you use. I'm finding it difficult to determine where I will be placed.

It's all guesswork but after a month or 2 you should be able to gauge where you are compared to your competitors.
