Atleast they learn't from the Florida update :tup. Luckily my site didn't change didly squat when using the sandbox so hopefully i'l have a smooth transition next year.

It definitely will be interesting to see what comes of this in the near future and the impact that it will have across the board. If website speed does become a crucial factor it may present an issue for budget web hosting providers that overload their servers.

I think it's too early to tell, but not early to start planning!

Great insights. I raised the same concern quite some time ago because the loading speed of a site should clearly be classified into the overall end user experience thus taken into consideration in ranking a site.

There's now an option to check site speed in Google's Webmaster Tools. It's in the beta section from what I recall.
