I've made a graphic logo for my website with the title of the site in so it wont be in h1 tags, will this damage SEO/rankings? Would I be better off using text?

Hope I've read this correctly, SE cant see images so you could use an alt tag for your SEO

Nothing to stop you using h1 as a separate title on each page.

So if the alt tag was Site Name and the file name was Site Name I wouldn't lose out too much?

The site is a big information resource type website, would you have the title of each page in H1 tags as I cant do it with the site name eventhough the title will be different to the site name? I want to target keywords for each info page title.

You can optimise the main heading for each page - which is better overall?

You can use an image replacement technique which can use a div to contain the text as well as the picture at the same time. Just google "css image replacement".
