You are confusing PageRank (PR) with your search engine position (SERPS). PR is simply the green bar on the Google Toolbar and has limited connection with your actual search position.
Hello
does anyone know of software that can accurately tell me my search engine position on say Google.co.uk, Bing, Yahoo etc for a list of key words.
ie. instead of having to check the current position for say 50 key words and phrases by typing in to each search engine each time, is there a bit of kit that I can have a list and hit "tell me my page rank" and it says you are 1 on Google, 5 on Bing page 2 etc....
cheers :tup

thanks all who have left feed back looking at the options
I use Aaron Wall's free tool. Check out his site - seobook.com - and it's called Rank Checker. It runs in the background every morning, checking an excel-entered list of keywords and I can dive into it whenever I want to get ranking data going back months. I'm currently checking 48 keywords and can go back to when I started using it in Aug '09 to check my daily rankings.
Additionally, I'd also advise signing up for Google's Webmaster Tools. This is no-where near as sophisticated a tool, but is interesting because it works in the opposite way to Aaron's tool. It tells you which positions you occupy for your highest ranking keywords without you having to pre-insert them. This is a nifty way of know which random keywords you rank for, and from there you can try to understand why you rank for them.
Another thing I'll add is that for every rank checking tool, you will always find discrepancies between the ranking data the tool gives you and what you see by manually checking the SERPs. Although I can choose to monitor Google.co.uk in Aaron's tool, I'm willing to bet that because his service is US-based, it'd be the equivilent of a US user loking at Google.co.uk. Normally, it's only 'out' by a position or two though, so I've come to accept that while it's not perfect, it still adds loads of value for me.
Give me a shout if you need help setting any of these up.

How do you 'mark as spam'?
I have just come across a site which specialises in rankings for social media sites. Not something I have experience in but could be useful for anyone who is looking at this as a secondary marketing strategy.
