It's not only the backlinks - its the pace they are created, the amount of fresh content, the keyword density.
Plus, page rank won't guarantee that you rank #1 on the desired keywords. I had a site PR0 that ranked higher than many sites with PR2 and 3.

SEO is more than just the amount of backlinks.

What a lot of absolute nonsense. Keyword density, pace of creation or amount of fresh content has zero to do with pagerank.

You can get pr7 from one link if its the right link. Alternatively, if you have 1000 poor quality links you might not even get pr2.
Goodbye everyone, I've retired from public forums. If you know it, you can reach me on my email address. Thanks.

I wouldn't get too hung up on page rank, as it doesn't mean a thing these days.

Instead, concentrate on optimising your pages to your targeted keywords, writing good (linkable) content, syndicating that content, and building links from hight trust/authority relevant websites.

It's a long process, and it may be a while until you see the fruit of your labour, but it is worth it.

There isn't a quick fix, so good luck!

It demands the amount of backlinks, if you have several PR3 website or higher ,it can reach what you want.

Ah..dont bother about it....just think .what you got over your hud....

If you got a new content...or a content which is very rare.....

and you are wearing a white hat....you wll be under need of..only 4 page rank 5 links..and a wait of 2 weeks with good content posting..

and if you are crapy copy paster...then you will be needed nealry 90 page rank 6 to get page rank 4 or 3 in 2 or 3 weeks..

    Good luck....choose your path...

Page Rank is just an indicator, not the "be all and end all". It shows how likely you would be to do well in Google but not how well you will actually do.

Concentrate on content and a few good quality links for the best results.

For getting good page rank you should require quality back links because google likes quality back links and you need thousand of back links .

Exactly - page rank is determined as an average of the page rank of the sites linking to yours. So one PR7 linking to your site could give your site a PR7.

If your site has two backlinks. A PR7 and a PR2 then your site would probably get PR 3 (the average of the two).

This isn't an exact science of course but a very rough guide. So in answer to the question there is no magic number of links to hit a specific PR. It is the QUALITY of links that matters.

One PR7 link is better than 100 PR0 links IMO

Its depend on Back link quality, some one response above One Link is enough, he is right one dedicated PR 8 or 9 Link may done this. So try to get wuality links not quantity.

Impossible to answer this question accurately, but you may consider why you want PR? Is it to compete against similar ranked sites?

PR alone will not do this of course, but more to the point is not necessarily needed. Don't worry about it is my advice.
