I have a site thats less than 2 years old, it has about 40 pages and only 2 backlinks. It's a wordpress based site and recently I've noticed that new posts that I add are indexed within hours.

I added another post in the last half hour and it was indexed in under 10 mins! Is this something that tends to happen with more established sites?

You can get posts indexed in minutes/seconds on big sites.

I'll probably end up with egg on my face here, but lets do a quick live test.

    Indexed already:

This is Google's cache of http://www.livefootball.net/2010/03/...k-compilation/. It is a snapshot of the page as it appeared on 1 Mar 2010 21:09:08 GMT. The current page could have changed in the meantime. Learn more

<60 seconds to get indexed. This is typical of any busy, established site based on Wordpress.

If it is a wordpress blog and the rest of the site is indexed then when you publish a post it sends out a ping to signify there is new content.

The ping list is set under Settings > Writing > Update services

as standard the ping list is set to: http://rpc.pingomatic.com/

Delete this and you won't get indexed quite so quickly ;-)

    I was sarcastic .....
    Indexing is pointless without ranking
And if you get indexed in 1 day what ? if you wait 10 months to get it ranked ?

You must admit, it's a lot easier to get it ranked once it's indexed though, trying to rank an unindexed page is a nightmare ;-)

In the case of my site the posts are getting indexed and ranking on the first page of Google, was just surprised that it was happening so quickly with a site that was fairly small, had hardly any backlinks and was less than 2 years old.

I heard..some cms are best supported to make the sites..get indexed much faster than the other...websites...
the fastest to get a better hit is..wordpress......

heard about it minimum time to get google cache your site..is 17 to 30 seconds...

or may be less..if you are having too much fast book marks....done..

. but be careful with fast bookmarking.....
