Do you have any previously starred results in your search listing? I've seen them listed at the top sep.
How on earth do we know where a site really is on the pages. I have a new site.
I see it as #1
My partner sees it at #5
Friend sees it at #4
Lordy knows where everybody else sees it!

I have the same, different results on 2 pc's in the same house, i thought it was audience based. G knows my wife is a Woman (tho i wonder at times) by her search history so shows different results based on that.
Google now gives personalised search results based on your previous searches. If you regularly check your serps and click on your site then Google will lift your site higher in your own personalised results because it knows that you like that site.
To find out your real position...
1. Install the Google Chrome browser.
2. Change the Chrome shortcut on your desktop or wherever by appending the incognito switch on the end, i.e.
chrome.exe -incognito
This forces Chrome to run in "incognito" mode thus avoiding the use of personalised serps because Google doesn't know who you are in affect.
Hope this helps.

Nice tip. You can also do Private Browsing in Firefox (Tools > Private Browsing) and I bet there's a way of doing it in IE8.
I've managed to turn off Personalised Search so I see the same results whether I'm in Prviate or not; it's somewhere in your Google account but for the life of me, I can't remember.
Or add &pws=0 after the url in the address bar see this on seo book for more info
Hey for real time test of your result try to use.....a proxy...and see the result on it ......That will show you what G thinks about your web.....![]()
