does changing dates of wp posts effect seo?

If I have a wordpress blog site with say just 10 posts on it and then every few weeks I update the dates of the posts to make them look as if they are recent then hit save does this effect my seo ranking and make it look like a new post to google?

sorry should be clearer, does changing dates negatively effect the rankings of your posts, because doesnt doing this change some titles names...

if your permalink urls are set to include the date then yes it can.
