I am new to this website. So this will be my first post! No page ranking does not influence your position.

Well, it is one of the things that matters for SEO. It also depends on the keywords, tha relevancy of your site to the person´s query, and the backlinks you have to your site. If you have backlinks from well page ranked sites, you will optimize yours.

Pointless response - care to expand on your evidence for this, the personal studies you have underatken?

Do signature links matter on first posts or do they get you removed?

I completely disagree Emy. My website ranks very high on google and my page rank is ZERO. It doesnt matter what your page rank is. Why would it matter....if you link to other sites that have high content and have a lot of traffic...that matters more than linking to a site that has a high page rank but low traffic and low content..

PR is only the measurement of your site's website’s link age, link volume and link value. Links to your web site are still an important factor for high Google rankings.

Of course I completely agree. Back links are very important; it directly correlates to keyword ranking.

The weight of that portion depends on many factors like the actual Page Rank of the page, number of inbound links to that page, total number of out going links on the page from where we are getting links etc.

If you and the other site has equal relevance to a keyword search, Google then will highly rank the site with higher PR. That's why we need to improve our site PR.

Not that much, There are some sites that even a lower PR could rank in Page 1 in google. Its the backlinks and content is much important.

A lot of people think Page Rank (PR) matters. They believe the higher your PR the higher you get placed in the search engines. PR has had it's day and is totally pointless these days!! Page Rank is for link whores only and does not help in any way shape or form to rank in the search engines.
