Only google can give you that answer and even then they would say it's too vague a question.
I am trying to put a bit of a business plan together and I wanted to get a bit of a guide about the conversion rate of sites on page 1 of Google (for a site whose domain exactly matches the term searched for)
The scenario might be - BlueWidgets.co.uk ...
1.) Its on page one, for the search blue widgets
and
2.) There are 1,000 exact match searches for blue widgets per month.
Whats that worth?
Would it be reasonable to estimate that if BlueWidgets.co.uk was on page one of G. this would convert into 1% of searchers actually visiting (say 10 visitors), and perhaps 10% of them buying (thats 1 buyer per month).
Does that sound right/ too high/ too low??
What are your thoughts![]()

Really does depend upon the niche, how good your site is in getting visitors to click through to the retailer site and how good the retailer site is in converting visitors to buy.
There is also a presumption that the 1,000 searches a month is correct - it could be higher or lower.
As a rough guide though, I would look at the CPC for Google Adwords and take 40% of that to get approx adsense earnings. You could create a spreadsheet like:

It also depends where on Page 1 you are sitting.
Places 1-5 garner nearly 80% of the traffic for the keyword.
The conversion rate depends on your product page, your niche and product price and the merchant you're advertising. Something like Amazon would have a higher conversion rate because they are well known.
And remember, if you rank for blue widgets, you'd also be getting a fair bit of traffic for related long term keywords that could convert well too.
Some site in a page 1 in the Google SE, are the superior and pioneer to the Internet industry they garner a huge traffic and since their site is in the first page, when someone search for a particular word, the sites who are in the first page has the chance to view it.
