We've been using various proxy services so we can get true Google US search results when looking from here in the UK. They have been a little hit and miss so we're thinking about doing it ourselves.

We were thinking we could get some cheap US hosting, and develop a web page where we can type in a search phrase which is then posted to Google, and the results displayed in a frame. This would make it look like the search has originated in the US.

    Has anyone done this before?

    Hi serviendo,

Haven't tried the method you're proposing, but you could try searching for your terms on Google UK, then adding "&gl=us" to the end of the URL you get in your browser's address bar after the results appear. Seems to work quite well, but I have to admit I haven't tested it thoroughly, so I can't vouch for it being 100% effective. Worth looking into, though...

I subscribe to GoTrusted. Surf Anonymously with GoTrusted

It allows me to connect to their service which means I use their US IP. Surfing US results is obviously easy as pie. Its what I subscribed for too!

Also the other benefit is when you are in countries with IP's on a non trusted range like Malaysia or Thailand you cant access soooo many UK services... Login to Gotrusted and TADAAAAA sorted!

I hear its also useful for surfin porn or other banned stuff in Arabic countries

    Enjoy!

If you don't want to work with proxies, then I would suggest that you just analyze your server logs or check the IP addresses of your visitors to determine where they are, along with the referer data to monitor the search engine information such as the keywords that the user entered to find your site. If you monitor this data over time, you should be able to deduce where you're doing well, where you need to improve, and record the changes in your performanc
