We all know the value of a page one top 3 Google ranking. I was wondering if anyone outsources their SEO work and what you would consider a reasonable sum of money to pay out each month.

    Do you get good results?

The reason I ask this is that I have been approached by a company who have shown me some impressive results. They are the link building guys for a client of mine Purely Diamonds who are ranking well for the terms eternity rings, diamond earrings and diamond rings.

    Any thoughts

This is a pretty broad question..you cant really put a number on "How Much it Costs to Put your Website in the Top 3"

Hmmm? I suppose you right if the keywords you want to be ranked highly on are really competitive. I suppose what I am asking is what results you have had and what you have had to pay in costs to be there.
Personally I would consider a grand a reasonable amount if it got me to top 3 position for 3 good terms

As a search engine crawler may keep a cached copy of this file, it may on occasion crawl pages a webmaster does not wish crawled. Pages typically prevented from being crawled include login specific pages such as shopping carts and user-specific content such as search results from internal searches. In March 2007, Google warned webmasters that they should prevent indexing of internal search results because those pages are considered search spam.[34]

A variety of methods can increase the prominence of a webpage within the search results. Cross linking between pages of the same website to provide more links to most important pages may improve its visibility.[35] Writing content that includes frequently searched keyword phrase, so as to be relevant to a wide variety of search queries will tend to increase traffic.[

Well let me put it in perspective. A grand for putting a website in the top 3 for a keyword as broad as education..
sounds ridiculous right? It would cost sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooo much more than a grand for that kind of keyword..understand?

The same company rang me yesterday, from the percentages of our PPC budget they where estimating, our campaign with them will be around £2k per month (they're emailing a quote over later) for relatively competitive terms (we are spending around £7k per month on PPC).

The guy I spoke to on the phone (Greg), seemed decent enough and the sales pitch wasnt as pushy as some, but didnt really say much about what they would actually do...I guess that'll be covered in the quote.
    Nothing to see here.

For a competitive term, which would include Jewellery terms, I'd expect to have to obtain 15-20 in-context links from sites with reasonable quality each month. So, researching the sites, contacting the webmaster, writing & submitting the article multiplied by say 25 (some won't get published) .. will cost you a lot more than £1,000 .. perhaps £500 to £2500 per month, depending on who you choose.

    Hi,

I'm probably a little late to the conversation but here goes.

I run an SEO company and have worked for the larger london based agencies along with a local firm too.

I agree with the guy before £1000 will not get you ranking for a number of terms as you've got to consider the amount of time they will spend link building, account management (you'll want to speak with them), the time spent producing a monthly report along with how many keywords they actually optimise for and the distribution of keywords within those links.

I would say without looking in to the market its difficult to tell but with the amount of competition out there as a company we tend to show what work we would do in the proposal and this doesn't end up with many people taking the work and doing it themselves it builds a lot of trust IMO.

If its competitive it won't take 3 months look more like a 6 month engagement giving you a choice after that to see some initial results.
Hope this helps as you can appreciate theres a lot more to it!

if you want to get ranked higher in the search engines (google specifically) through affordable means, you might want to try outsourcing to the Philippines. Not only does offshore outsourcing eliminates overhead costs from hiring and training people to the operations itself; it will also let you focus on growing your business and the core business itself.
Expand your business with us through quality outsource link building and SEO content writing.

What happens with an agency is,

They receive an SEO enquiry asking how much will it cost to get my website in the top 3 for say car insurance (super competitive I know but just an example).

They will then say they cant guarantee top 3 position but they can intergrate methods that will give you the best chance.

They will then go through your website looking for onsite seo changes, they look at the amount of work that needs to be done and how long it will take, then apply there daily rate to give you a figure.

Offsite SEO is the same, they will recommend lets say 1-2 days a month and justify it.

So you could be looking at 1 week of onsite changes to your code and say 2 days a month of offsite.

    At a rate of £250-£300 a day.

    Onsite = £1250
    Offsite ongoing = £250 - £500 a month

This is just from my experience of being an SEO for agencies, and daily rates change depending on the agency

The quotes you posted are a bit expensive. Have you tried SEO outsourcing to the Philippines? Most huge and starting companies resort to outsourcing to the Philippines for three reasons 1) the Philippines has almost the same cultural background as the west- same work ethics, same way of thinking 2) the majority of the Filipinos are computer literate; most has either an IT degree or computer background. and the 3rd and last part is, most if not all Filipinos can speak English quite well, definitely a plus if you're giving instructions from a couple of thousand miles away.
