Ok so my site http://kids-headphones.co.uk keeps disappearing from Google search results.

The site ranks on the first page of google.co.uk for "Kids Headphones" it usually appears 3rd, 4th or 5th place on the first page. Everything was fine up untill a month or two ago when it just disappeared from any search results, the site would only appear if you typed in "site:http://kids-headphones.co.uk".

After a few days it came back and started to rank a little higher - I thought this was just down to a google update or something, however it has now done this 3 or 4 times in the past few weeks - it disappears for a few days then comes back for a couple of days only to disappear again.

Its really doing my head in so, if anyone has any help or advice then that would be great.

Mostly new sites shows such behavior and I can see that you have purchased your domain in March 2010. So it's not a big deal for a 3 month old site to show such ups and downs. I will suggest you to work regularly on the content and off page optimization of this site. Make some good quality backlinks on a regular basis and with in some time it will become stable. Hope this helps.

I wouldn't stress about it too much - it happens with new sites and even with some not so new sites. So long as you still rank for your URL you haven't been penalised and it's just part of your growth. Do like aldorun says and you won't go far wrong.

No the site just disappears from keyword searches on google.

In fact I was appearing for any keyword searches from Thursday, last week, to Sunday. I finally appear on google yesterday, position 3 for the search "Kids Headphones". Today the site just disappears again from this keyword search? So looks like ill be off google for another few days then when i appear again it wont last long before i disappear off the face of the planet again!

Its really annoying having to go through this - my site has been up for a good few months now and to begin with it never disappeared, its only started happening in June/July. If I search for the site on google it shows up with around 84 pages indexed so I know im not banned.

I just wish I knew what to do about the disappearing as I could then fix it and not end up crying in front of my laptop every week! :-(

Thanks for your input and while I appreciate what you are saying the site isnt really going up and down - its completely disappearing!

Are you sure that this is normal?

I think it's because it's mostly datafeed. It's an affilistore site. There's not much orginal content on there but what I can't figure out is why it hasn't just had a penalty, why does it keep coming back?? Nothing in webmaster tools to indicate dupe content etc.

It's more of a site for Xmas so I'm looking at re-doing it soon and hopefully it will stick for this Xmas's trade. It's a shame as it's number 3 for a good keyword and for the week or so it held that position last Xmas it did ok. It does seem to come back into the serps every week now since the last G update where as before it was more like a few days a month!

My site has a lot of products on it and descriptions, but its not a datafeed, im wondering whether this is why its getting hit in the rankings and I should add more original content up.

What do you guys think? Is there a way to stabalise these fluctions - i just did a search there and managed to find one of my sub pages on page 66 of google so it does seem like the site isnt completely disappearing however with it being on page 66 it might aswell disappear!

Are your other sites, the ones linked from that site, staying stable in the serps?

I'm not really too sure tbh - some are mine and some arn't.

My sites have minimal traffic and im not in the habit of checking them very often - I will need to pay more attention to it.

I just wish I knew why it did this???

Edit: Just decided to remove those links completely from the site

Might be worth removing the tags box also. I'm no expert but I'm sure I read somewhere that you don't want too many links on one page and with that tag section there is a lot of links on your page! Might be worth a go, see if it helps.

I never thought of that - I use a SEO tags plugin for wordpress but i'll disable it and see if it helps.

    Thanks

I'd throw a few more links in there. Perhaps drop a little bit of static content too rather than relying on the feed to it. Don't think you need to do much more though (-:

    I like that

These kind of sites are ok if you follow some basic rules.
1} Don't make it more complicated than it needs to be. Studio Pess wasn't really designed for this kind of thing.
2} Publish it and forget it. It won't get better the more you look at it - if it isn't working than move on to the next one, your time has a value because you don't have an unlimited amount of it.
