Google Update Due - You heard it here first!

Last week there was an issue that worried some regarding the PR indicator on any results. This was not an update, but was apparently a system upgrade that was planned over the public holiday in America.
As there was much worry (and probably a few grey hairs) over this period heres some hot news released today, that if you know in advance, should stop the heart murmers you will have probably experienced if you had not know.


The infamous GoogleGuy has announced at WebProNews that google is due to undergo an update during the next few weeks to month.
This update is being dubbed the "Bourbon update".

He's what he said:
"Here's the advice that I'd give now: take a break from checking ranks for several more days. Bourbon includes something like 3.5 improvements in search quality, and I believe that only a couple are out so far. The 0.5 will go out in a day or so, and the last major change should roll out over the next week or so.
"Then there will still be some minor changes after that as well. So my "weather report" along the lines of http://www.ysearchblog.com/archives/000095.html would be a recommendation that rankings may still change somewhat over the next several days."

GoogleGuy has been repeatedly correct in his posting, and anything he says is usually taken in and digested my many folks worldwide.

Bourbon started three weeks ago? and will go on for another three weeks. I noticed one URL for a keyword move down from 9th to 70th last night, so something is still going on, althoug my immediate thought was a competitor had reported it was penalised. At least the above explains that's not the case and I'm simply still being google*****d

I thought the same, but both google and googleguy have reported on the 30/05/2005 that there hadnt been an update instigated:

So reading between the lines....was an update delayed untill systems had been pulled into line to reflect what was/may have been due

after thought.....at least we know thers more on the way.....just hoping to stop the palputations that everyone gets when something suddenly changes and they had no idea (especially in the AM following)

I like Bourbons, the chocolate kind I mean - but i don't like this update.

I don't really bother trying to chase google most the time.
..... But I have noticed a massive decrease in the ol 'readies' coming in over the last few days. I've only just noticed to be honest I have been too busy makin a new site and riding my bike in the loverly sun!

I hope the SERPs are good at the moment for some new young website owners and they are getting a peice of the pie - (loads of new sites in the serps - just not mine!) - but fair's fair - I'm getting a bit hungry here - or at least my kids are. So pass it back

Seriously - I'm not sure what is happening in this update - nicknamed bourbon - but its affecting alot of the keywords that I try to maintain as my breadwinners. (yes I always try to deversify, but now and again you hit a 'pearl' which you try to keep them going - in it )

I'm also peved because some of my sites actually have really good content (honest) and offers that can't be found anywhere else and now really spammy sites are outranking me. - Its hard to maintain 'special' agreemant with merchants when thing go this way for too long and before you know it your back on the first tier and they withdraw all 'other' bonuses. It just seems annoying that you then have to rebuild your rankings and regain the commitment of your merchants. Its a double bummer.
