Getting better adsense

Hi,

I'm looking for some advice how we can improve the adsense ads on this site. You may have noticed that if you are not logged in, you now get adsense between the 1st and 2nd posts. The ads being shown are pretty naff really and it would be nice to get better and more relevant ads to the actual content of the posts themselves. Rather than just ads for forum software etc. Would it help to take the CSS out of the page source?

We have blocked certain advertisers using the adsense tools, but how can we make the ads more relevant to the actual content of the posts themselves? Should we add some META descriptions or content at the top of the page?

I don't think sites like this are destined to make money from adsense. I would like to suggest that you start charging a reasonable annual subscription. I guess this has been raised before but I do find the site important to my affiliate activities and would subscribe.
