    We're sorry...
... but we can't process your request right now. A computer virus or spyware application is sending us automated requests, and it appears that your computer or network has been infected.

We'll restore your access as quickly as possible, so try again soon. In the meantime, you might want to run a virus checker or spyware remover to make sure that your computer is free of viruses and other spurious software.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope we'll see you again on Google.

But was just checking a keyword and where it was, so now google are banning people if they click to quick well for a short time at least!, oh and it only seems to happen after pages 10+

That seems a bit of a stupid statement. If it's an automated attack then the program isn't going to read what they have written and the person reading it, probably hasn't got an infected pc because they clicked the link themselves.

As for spurious software, write back and tell them you've removed the google toolbar haha

    Guys & Girls, you've got a virus.

This happened to me before Christmas. We did a full virus check with AVG and Pest Patrol and one of them found something (can't remember which, sorry).

    Do a check NOW!

From reading on WMW I don't think it is a virus, but Google responding to requests which are in the same format as machines which are sending requests which do have a virus. Google can't tell if you have it or not, but is giving you that response still.

It can also happen if you go through a proxy (at your ISP) where there are an excessive number of requests that make it look like automated querying. You might find that different browsers go through different proxies. These are "transparent" proxies - ones that are there but come in automatically rather than through your browser settings.

I sometimes get something similar with Slashdot if I'm going through a certain proxy on NTL.
