I used to be on Google, fairly well down the rankings without any submission. I then used submitfire.com as people have reported fairly good results. However when Google last crawled my site, something obviously went wrong, as now when I type in site:e-discounts.co.uk it displays the URL, but not the title or description. Obviously this is useless unless anyone types in my URL!

I havent changed any META tag information apart from putting in Google Analystics in my head tags.

I would hope that I havent been banned. I would assume I wouldnt be listed at all then. Maybe googlebot couldnt access my site and therefore could not retrieve any information. Although I dont know of any downtime. Any ideas?

Short version : you are on the way to a total ban. The URL only listing is the first step in a delisting.

Submitfire looks suspiciously like the kind of automated software that Google specifically warn against using, as it contravenes their ToS. I would recommend that you stop using it immediately, and send a reinclusion request to Google noting that you were using the software, have discovered that it is a no-no, and have now stopped, and promise never to attempt to promote your site without professional SEO advice ever again. And then stick to that promise

<added> Keith, that's just an effect of multiple DC's. It's on the way out </added>

    Rubbish.
I have emailed webmaster@google.com and we'll see what comes of it.
Do I expect to get a response?

It's possible that Google has penalised your site because of all the affiliate links in the code of the main page.

It could also still be a flux on your site as it is still relatively new.

You're likely to get bumped from some affiliate schemes too - people like Tescos won't like you putting discount codes from their leaflets on a website and I reckon those merchants with codes meant for NHS employees only won't like it either.....
Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.

All sites concerned have approved my site after viewing the content. I have also been in contact with alot of them and they seem very relaxed about it. Thankfully.

1st posting so hopefully I won't make a fool of myself!

My site has been up and running since May last year. It wasn't highly ranked on Google but all the pages were listed and some of them were starting to climb.

Checked last week and only 23 pages are now listed and some of those are old pages that I have deleted.

Originally I let Google find me in its own time and I haven't tried any wacky submission programs since.

Can't think of anything I've done to upset Google.

Is there a way to check if a page has been blocked?

    Cheers

(Funnily enough MSN search shows 253 results so they are still my friends!)

If thats true and the people who run tesco have approved non-affiliate codes then I am incredibly surprised.

I have had a few sites that have sufferred like this - some have come back - most I have had to bin and begin again.

I guess you will have to hang tight and just see if your results return. Making a reinclusion request to google after removing 'offending material' will often work or has at least for me (remarkably)

One more thing about the voucher codes - I would watch your back - believe me it won't be long before companies start writing to you to remove voucher codes that are not affiliate related especially tescos, dsg, pixmania, cd wow, john lewis, lx direct, screen select. You may also get mails from other affiliates whos codes you use, after they have got the deal and the code from the merchant.
