Here's Googles explanation.
that is a problem they have been having. i think this is why they have bonked the indexing and are re-doing it.Originally Posted by Rich

well i manage around 30 websites. i rarely have need to check outside these as it provides quite a diverse cross section, of old, new, ecommerce and content![]()
hows your site doing now? there are hundreds of people experiencing the effect. check the sitepoint forums, it's a bit better than a4u for se info.Originally Posted by Itchy
so that would explain the drastic changes in my serps lately... I thought it was because I was slacking on fresh content.
lots of weird stuff happening lately, even with PR.. a new site with about 2 incoming links went from PR 0 to PR 9, ive had a page 1/2 site go to page 14.. blegh..
Mm... I've noticed the effects as well - fortunately my PR has stuck at 3, but Google has dropped quite a lot of my pages (gone from around 200 listed pages to just 3!)![]()
I have emailed Google to check that my site hasn't been penalised, and the response was indeed that my site hasn't been penalised. According to the Google cache tool (www.yourcache.com) at some datacenters my site has "-1" pages cached - hmmm....![]()
Meanwhile, my MSN, Altavista, and Yahoo search engine saturation continues to rise... maybe I'll be totally reliant on those soon...
