How long does it take these days from new link to update? It's been a while since I've had to ponder this, it took ten days one month last year, is it still the same? If it was a new domain entry it would be there by now but it's a cache update I'm after.

How do you know if a domain has been banned? I thought it would have updated by now.

    I've got this on the listing for the domain;

    Index of /[DIR] Parent Directory 20-Mar-2006 05:04 - [DIR] _private/ 09-Mar-2006 11:00 - [DIR] cgi-bin/ 08-Mar-2006 21:37 - [DIR] images/ 09-Mar-2006 11:00 - [TXT] ...
    www.****.co.uk/

Google can show you the following information for this URL:

    Show Google's cache of ****.co.uk
Find web pages that are similar to ****.co.uk
Find web pages that link to ****.co.uk
Find web pages from the site ****.co.uk
Find web pages that contain the term "***.co.uk"

It's strange, I emailed them anyway.

It's been longer than 10 days which is unusual considering their bots have been floating around. The others (msn, yahoo etc) have changed their listings, I don't know what google are playing at, they should stop all this other stuff and get on with being a search engine.

    Lee,

The two best ways to see if you are banned in google is to do a site:www.yourdomainhere.com search. If your site shows up then you are NOT banned.

Secondly, install the google toolbar and have a look at the pagerank feature, if it is completely grey then you are banned.

If you have any more questions then PM me the url and I will take a look for you.

    Lee,

My main site's cache generally updates every 48-72 hours and I have over 10,000 backlinks. Your site has links on 9 different domains. I would imagine this is your problem.

Check your stats and find out how often google has visited this month, then work on getting more backlinks. The majority of your backlinks seem to be from forum threads. Bear in mind that a forum may have over 20,000 different threads and therefore your link isnt going to be seen very often by the google spiders. Try and get a few backlinks on some main pages and you should find that your google cache will be updated by the weekend.

Best of luck and feel free to contact me if you need anymore advice.

Thanks, I've never been too concerned about them thar back links when it comes to refreshing cache, the fact it cached the page the link was on, well it should have done the site linked to as well but obviously not, that's why I was wondering what was wrong, it's the first time I've come across this problem.

Google likes to make sure that large authority sites are re-cached as often as possible, however, they dont waste their time visiting and caching the smaller sites anywhere near as often.

Your problem is that backlinks are one of the most important factors for google perceiving you as a larger site, unless you get hundreds more backlinks then it is unlikely that google will start to see you as a bigger site.

Nice site though, keep up the good work.
