    Hi,

    After being an Adsense publisher for a few years, strictly
    text ads only, I relented and for one ad slot on one particular
    site, I allowed images to be displayed.

    (I believe the adsense code is
    Code:
    google_ad_type = "text_image";
    .)

    Since that time, about two weeks ago, I've noticed
    image ads. appearing in other slots when, in my
    opinion, they shouldn't.

    But when I check the adsense code for these ads,
    google_ad_type is not set at all.

    So, anyone tell me how to prevent image ads appearing?

    Do I really have to add the following to all of my ads
    Code:
    google_ad_type = "text";
    Cheers,
    Steve

    You switch the image ads on and off from the Google Adsense online interface. You can't select them to be only on and off for particular ad sizes: the setting is global.

    Cheers Nadim, but I don't think you're right

    Within Google Adsense it specifically says (for my ads, anyway)

    Ad Type Preference [edit]
    AdSense will display: Text ads only in all ad units.

    You may override your ad preference on a page-by-page basis, by selecting the desired Ad Type option in your Ad layout code page.
    Themed ad units disabled

    I have overriden the ad preference in one instance, but am occassionally
    getting image ads for other ads where I haven't done so.

    email adsense support ..

    then take a month's vacation and if you are lucky you may have a standard " please select your ad options from the interface.. text or grapical"

    dealing with adsense support is like tossing coins down a well.. cept there's no satisfactory "gloooop" sound.

    Maybe the page-by-page bit is the key and it's either on for a page or off for a page and not for each ad unit?

    Steve, you are right. My apologies.

    I've set ours in My Account > Ad Type Preference to "Text and image ads in all ad units." However, it does say "You may override your ad preference on a page-by-page basis, by selecting the desired Ad Type option in your Ad layout code page."

    I don't care which ads show, whether they are text or image; just want the highest paying ones.

    I noticed on one of my sites a very small image just to the left of the text ads. I didn't want to click it, but I poked and prodded at the URL and I believe it's some sort of addition that AdSense can put on for sites with a certain theme.
