Exception for trademarked term in Adwords

I have created a new ad using adwords, all was fine - no trademarks terms were detected by google.

However the advert is not being displayed. I've checked the ad using their 'Ads Diagnostic Tool' this states:

"Ad not shown | Reason: A trademarked term is preventing your ad from showing."

How can I apply for an exception under this situation? Has anyone had this problem before?

you could try to debate this with their trademark team, they will occasionally make mistakes.
However, to get an exception / permission to use a trademarked term you have to get permission from the trademark owner themselves. They (tm owner) contact google and it can take a long time. So unless you are working closely with the trademark owner or their agents, I would not have too much hope.

There are some frustating instances of this on generic terms, there is another thread on this somewhere

What keyword(s) were you trying to bid on ?

I'm trying to bid on 'TomTom', serveral other Adwords users have this term in their adverts so I was hoping it would not be difficult to get an exception!

Good luck with "TomTom" - it's all gone now mate.

The money was there back in May/June - now I just wouldn't bother.
