I run an adwords campaign with aproximately 1400 keywords and when the landing page quality scoring began just over 1000 were disabled so rather than increase my bid price I spent time improving the quality of my site, the disabled keywords has been gradually dropping bottoming out at just over 400 which wasnt too bad, until this morning when I checked my account and discover 1122 keywords are now disabled which puts me in a worse position than when it all started

I've noticed in the last few days that the same thing has happened to the few landing pages I had affected. On Wednesday the number of affected pages jumped to the highest ever.

This is life with adwords I think, they never tire of giving you a swift kick in the teeth!

As we don't use AdWords I've never really followed the threads on this subject but I am wondering whether there is something we can do with the W3 Alliance to help you PPC guys create landing pages that would be seen by Google to be acceptable?

Hasd anyone got some examples of what is deemed a "bad" landing page and a "good" one.

no no to score a goal youve gotta kick the ball in medium soft in the top right hand corner within 1 cm of the goaly or else it doesnt count!

Does that sum up how youre feeling?

I have a feeling they have certain profit targets to hit for shareholders and are trying hard to increase margins.
If you can, wait a week and see what happens, or increase your bid and slowly decrease it.

It seems they're keeping this a secret. When my campaigns were shutdown I started trading messages with their support people, basically asking them what they wanted from my landing pages. It was like trying to get blood out of a stone, they never gave me any info that helped. The last message I sent was probably too direct, I said 'tell me what's wrong and I'll fix it'. I didn't get a reply on that one.

I'm spending most of my budget on Adcenter now, they opened that up in the UK at just the right time.

"they never gave me any info that helped."

standard google tactic.. be vague, unspecific yet courteous.

only if you really press, directly with your adwords rep will you get specific suggestions and even then someone else reviews the landing page later and may interpret googles guidelines differently to your adword rep.

head... wall.. bang one into the other till stars appear and adwords feels less crucial .. .
