Maybe I am being a little too respectful of advertisers wishes and T&C's when it comes to bidding on certain keywords?

Below is taken from one of Commission Juntions merchants, Toucan

In order to participate in the Toucan program, Publishers must not use Toucan trademarks, the Toucan brand name, Toucan sub-brands, brand name misspelling or similar variations in any main domain names. Use of the following terms, and any similar misspellings, are also expressly prohibited:

    Toucan
    Toucan Mobile
    Toucan Broadband
    Toucan Surf
    Toucan Tele
    Toucan Telecom
    Toucan Talk
    ToucanTalk,
    ToucanSurf,
    ToucanMobile
    Toucantele
    toucantelecom

Further, the Toucan URL, including www.toucan.com, toucan.com, Toucan sub-brand URLS, and sub-brand misspellings are not to be displayed on any PPC campaign creative run on UK search engines.
However, if you Google Toucan, you'll see loads of people bidding on the word.

Am I the only person who plays by the rules or am I mis-reading the T&C's?

na mate there's at least you and I behaving in general

may soon just be you tho ..

I'm too am sick of being one of the few guys that does stick to T&C's, sure hands up occaisionally I'm spanked with an email or a "what ya doin, didn't you see the email/message" phone call, for not complying with some recent change in a timely fashion, but in general if I'm told to do x then I do it..

That may change as it appears there is simply NO downside to flouting PPC T&C's.. most of the networks do nothing .. I can't remember the last time I heard of anyone's commission being withheld can you ?

people are brazenly bidding on brand and restricted keywords etc. long term, some networks are aware but apparently choose to do nothing as weeks pass and the same affiliates are still bidding away so either the policing is non existant or no enforcement is in place yet as an affiliate one thing is for sure, if you've been told you aren't going to get paid you stop PPC'ing immediately so it's obvious no such instruction has been given.

hey ho maybe one day I'll join the ranks of the "bank cash untill threatend with non payment maybe one day never" club too

I think a lot of affiliates don't bother their behinds reading t's and c's.

One thing that's quite frustrating is when a merchant changes their rules (fair enough) and asks you to stop doing something. I always do this immediately only to see someone immediately take my place and sometimes remain there for several weeks.

Frustrating, cos then I know exactly how much I am losing by being honest enough to follow merchant requests instead of chucking them the rubber ear!

It could be that (a) they have permission from Toucan or (b) that Toucan have just been purchased by Pipex so they don't care.
