I’m currently developing a search engine for rental property. My original plan was to use the home page as an overview providing an introduction of the services available to tenants wishing to rent and landlords wanting to list their properties.

Then I thought; it’s a search engine the first thing you should see is the search facility.

The problem is if I go with the latter then I will have limited home page content, which could adversely affect the sites SEO.

I don’t want to overload the home page with both introduction text and a search facility as I’m going for a simple and crisp look.

An thoughts people, while I carry on uming and arring

Um, arr, um, arr, um, arr, um, arr, um, arr ...

Design the homepage for users. Ignore, utterly, the fact tht search engines exist.

Property is a significantly competitive market. Your success will be almost 100% dictated by the links you get. Having a good home page will make it easier to get those links....

That and a few grand, of course
