My friend has this UK online toy store. It has a fair number of inbound links, but he's getting very little traffic from Google. It's doing OK in MSN and Yahoo, but despite significant endeavours, it is not getting anything like prominent listings in Google.

The issue I think is Netobjects fusion. I have done SEO on a lot of sites, but not with one using Netojbects. If you view the source code on any page at hibba.co.uk you will see that Netobjects creates a lot of bloated code which Googlebot will not like.

Has anybody had success in getting Netojbects generated sites to rank highly? What techniques did you use to circumvent the bloated source code on pages please?

    Many thanks

    How about content?

it could sure use some to a bot it looks like a page of links or maybe it dont like the yellow nav bar like me
they only real content on there is about 3-4 links in, the rest is as i said just a page full of links ...

There is plenty of content - it's just a bit odd the way it's done - the product images take you to the product details pages but not the product text - personally I would make them both links to the product details - I know lots of people do click the images but personally I always try to click the text.

Other then that Nadeem, NetObjects Fusion is a pig to get things indexed (and as I discovered when I used it once, it also has a finite number of pages per site and due to the way it works performance takes a hit when you have lots of simultaneous visitors on your site)

With regard to the SEO though my guess would be that it is the Fusion code bloat which is the problem.
Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.

like i said there is content but its just 3-4 pages away
i.e press the brum pedal car on the index page (which is just links) it take 4 clicks before the content is presented untill then its 3 pages full of links but very little content... but their would be double the amount of links if both text and image lead to the same page
id go with just the txt links and not both but then again i aint got 50000 odd posts

Thank you - and I completely agree.

I think the problem may also be keyword-stuffing. The website owner should reduce the number of product-related keywords on the pages as there are way way too much.

In normal written English only one word in about ten or twenty would be a product on a shopping website, whereas on this site it is about every third word. Googlebot is very smart and will pick this up.

Yahoo and Microsoft are less sensitive to 'keyword stuffing' and that's why the site is doing a lot better with them. What do you think?
