Hi,

Is it worthwhile to site link does it help to increase your pagerank? Does it matter if the sites you link with are not of the same 'genre'?

I would be interested in hearing anyones views - and swaping appropraites links

Page Rank is all about links, although page rank in itself won't help your search engine positioning for given keywords. Inbound links is one of the more important parts of the google algorithm and although reciprocal links are of less value most sites still do find these help to boost positions. You do need to be careful who you link to as linking to 'dodgy' or spammy sites can have a negative effect

Page rank is irrelevant unless you are planning on selling links.

A good link building technique would be to obtain links from different methods, consider the following:

a) Targetted (relevant) link exchanges
b) Directory submissions
c) Signature Links
d) Purchased links (Many sites sell text links at reasonable cost, i always suggest purchasing relevant links and never buy because a site has a PR XYZ) - I also never pay over $10 per link per annum
e) Link bait - Good content on a site can attract people to link to it naturally.
