Keyword in Adword

Hi,

Can someone tell me how exactly do you do with the keywords in adword? Currently what I do is, I firstly search keywords in google keyword tool, and then save all keywords that relevant into my Ads or campaigns and let the campaign run for on it own. Am I doing the right way?

I came across a lot of peoples mentioned long-tail keywords, how long tails should it be? How exactly do I create or invent the long-tail keywords? did I tried to may be combined two or more main keyword phrases into a long-tail keywords???

Also, is it better to target 200 keywords in one go or just narrow down to 2-4 keywords per Ads / Campaign?
