I've put together a niche mini site and was wondering if I could optimise it better or if I've done it well (here's to hoping.)

Some feedback would be great. The url is: http://www.medal-of-honor-airborne.com

It's a little lacking in content at the moment, I'll add more when the release of the game gets closer and there's more information available.

    Thanks in advance,

    David

Bare in mind that whilst google bots etc are just that, robots, they do take into account how things look and feel to the human viewer. First impressions are that you've overkilled on the wording 'medal of honor airborne'. Too much on that and you'll get labeled as spam and positions will be hard to come by.

Also, damn you've picked a hard topic to focus on, far too many results for that search, including some big names at the top!

Thanks ian-d, much appreciated. It was rather heavy on the keyword, so I've taken out some of the refernces to 'medal of honor airborne'.

I didn't properly look at the competition myself until I'd already regged the domain, which was a mistake. But since I have the domain now I'm giving it a go.

I`d rip out the tables, they hold you back:

    a) By bulking out the page with code, decreasing your keyword density
    b) By putting a load of code before the content.

Do it with CSS, and have an H1 tag as the very first piece of code under the body tag eg

    <body>
<h1>Welcome to Medal of Honour Airbourne</h1>

You can alter where the h1 text appears using CSS positioning, but its important its the first piece of content on the page.

Also add more keywords and phrases to your meta keywords tag eg "play medal of honour airbourne" for example

Personally I`d add in Medal of Honour Airbourne a couple more times, I`ve found that what you may think looks spammy google is actually fine with. Also make use of alt and title attributes to allow you to stick the keyword in a few more times by describing the picture or link.

http://sitening.com/seo-tools/seo-an....php?id=142607 is an excellent tool for checking the SEO on your pages, and yours gets a respectable 90 out of 100 so far. Its not the be all and end all of tools, but it is very usefull in getting a feel for how good your SEO is.

Put the site live, and watch how it performs, then tinker with it every now and again and check your results. Over time you should be able to improve your ranking.

Thanks for the feedback tbp . My css isn't up to scratch yet, so I'm going to spend the next couple of days over at w3schools before I get those tables out and the <h1> tag in the right place.

I'll sort the meta keywords out tonight and look over the content again in regards to keyword density tomorrow. I didn't realise tht you could use alt tags for links, I'll get onto that too.

That certainly is a nifty tool, it's been added to my long list of favourite sites.

On a different note, it's great to have a community like this. You can learn alot on the net by reading articles, (and it feels like I've read a million,) but having somewhere like this with discussions and feedback from others doing the same thing is cuban. I probably would have given up if I hadn't stumbled across A4U a few months before I joined.

Anyway, enough random praise. Back to the grindstone.

    Most important factors:

    Header Title
    Keyword Density
    Alt Tags
    Relevant Incoming Links
Popular Outgoing Links (wiki, google etc)

Meta descriptions are only useful for advertising your site on the search engines, and Meta keywords are pointless but put them in anyway.

Tried out that website tool too, friad its provided similar results on all sites, even undeveloped ones of mine, always 90 or 100 so don't expect its very good.

    Good luck

It doesn't always give 90 or 100, unless the site is pretty much up to scratch. I`ve seen sites score 50 or 60, mainly for two much use of tables, inline styles etc

As I said its not the be all and end all, but it does give a good indication of potential problems, once you`ve got those eliminated its up to you to tweak everything to make it as SEO friendly as possible.

Yeah, sure it works for some, but either way, quite happy with 100/100 for my merchant account. I do think however its the basic things that do the work, i've successfully got most of my major keywords to no.1, for popular keywords and its not involved as much as some SEO experts say, stick to the basics.

Thanks for the report Bud, more detail than you can shake a stick at. It's a big help.

Itchy, well you know where to check for updates on the new game. I haven't played medal of honor since the first one came out ages ago, might get round to giving the new one a whirl.
