    Right, I want to promote a series of books online but there is too much competition for the generic term that covers all of the books in this range.

    So I was going to design individual pages for each title and then I would be able to target a specific keyword search for each title.

    The thing that I am concerned about is that each title is so similar to the next and there is not much different you can write about each of them, that the pages will be very very similar to each other, so will I get penalised for duplicate content ?

    If yes, then is there any way around this ?

    I don't know the exact specifics of what you're proposing but my gut feeling is that it's fairly unlikely you'd get penalised so much so that it would be worth less than trying to compete with the generic terms. I would imagine Google are aware of things like this.

    I assume you're talking about something like "Harry Potter and the..."

    More like ;

    Dummies guide to ......

    Dummies guide to ......

    But not actually this series, I am worried that there will be 50 pages on our website that will all be very very similar content, only one or two words difference. There is virtually nothing different you can write for each book title.

    Then make it different - each book must be about a different subject (otherwise why is it a different book?) so don't just write about the book, write about the book's subject, the book's author, the book's publisher, why you would need the book, who should read the book etc etc
    Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.
