Yes it is possible and depending on the site and what and how it promotes, could determine how much the back end cost.
Guys, ive came across my competitor site who's always been on the top rank whenever i search with my keywords- all of my keywords! I viewed their source code, and there goes their meta tags. But when i tried to use http://www.seochat.com/seo-tools/meta-analyzer/ to check how spideys see their metas, there were no keyword and description data found. So how do they rank on top? i would like to post their url here so you'll see what i mean, but i think that would be inappropriate. I also saw an SEO function {} in their source code by the way, and the name of the SEO company who did their SEO... seems like the site automatically generate keywords that is attached to a few original tags that they've set... geee, is that possible?

Plus meta tags don't really have much impact, so you need to look in more detail.

It's not their site, it's that tool that is not working - I've just tried it on one of mine and it said I had no descriptions or keywords either - but I do
Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.
If ignorance is bliss then some of the people I know must be orgasmic.
Meta tags are relatively useless for SEO these days. Try using the special link: searches on Yahoo and Google
Example :
link:www.example.com
compare the results to your own sites.
that's weird, because ive been using that tool on many sites already and its the first time i experience it "not working"- and happens to be on a top ranking competitor site. got me thinking weird for a moment. but it would've been cool if there's such thing as keyword-generator attaching to a single tag to trick the spiders...![]()
Bredon is saying compare links with your competitors, so go into google and yahoo and type:
link:www.mydomain.com into the search box to see what links you have. This is an important factor of SEO and will show a comparison of links between you and your competitors.
That tool for meta is absolutely pointless IMHO.
Google and Yahoo support a special search type that tells you what links they know about. You get it by putting link: in front of the domain you want information about, eg
link:www.example.com
In Google you can also find incoming links by typing www.mysite.com -site:www.mysite.com
The reason I presume Seochat is not picking up the keywords and description is that the name attribute in the meta tags is not enclosed by quotes and it follows the content attribute rather than precedes it.
The SEO{} function is a Javascript function to open a redirect to the seo website. However it is not called within the page so it seems a bit useless.
One thing that intrigues me is the description in the Google entry. It consists of two phrases one appears the alt tag of the header image and the other is some text that appears in about the fifth paragraph on the page.
Could he be presenting a different site to Google?
They came for my 404 and I said nothing
Yeah but no but yeah but yeah but no but yeah no but yeah... ...but no because the meta description tag is shown as the description in google which means that with a good one you will get more clicks... ...because it might not help with your actual positions but you might get more clicks...

...but as such meta tags are not SEO, they are a marketing tool to attract customers. Its important to have a description for the SE's, but comparing against someone elses is as good as pointless, it has no SEO power!
