OK, I get the importance of alt image tags, but my question is this:

What about arrows, bullets and so on?
It seems tempting to pack a load of keywords into a 10pt forward arrow but, up to present, I've been a bit cautious and stuck to "." as I have seen on most other sites.

Is this the correct strategy or am I missing a trick here?

If the arrow does something, like clicks through to another page, then you use 'Go t onnnn page' - if it is a bullet within a list you would use 'Bullet item one' etc

Main reason is for screen readers and people with images turned off.

Never do 'keyword stuffing' into your alt / image tags.
