    I have two sites xyz.co.uk & xyz.com

xyz.co.uk is a blog and xyz.com is a site with a feed on it.

Both sites were indexed by google and everything was fine, but suddenly the .com site has dropped out of google so I assumed it had been sandboxed.

To my dismay thats not the case when you search in google for .com it comes up with the .co.uk. Google seems to think they are the same site, however both are completely different

    Any ideas what to do?

May I ask about the content of your two sites? Are they identical?

One of G's little gremlins is to get the content and the url mixed up - and I am not taking about redirects or anything that could get the sites confused, nor about sites which are in any way related.

Not heard of it before as per your case.

It could be a hosting problem. Is the one domain hosted as an addon domain to the other domain's hosting?

Is there any chance that the feed is resulting in the same content to the 2 sites?

Without knowing the domain names, I can't make any tests. PM me if you want me to look deeper.

Had a seo friend look at it and he thinks it would be easier and quicker to just put the feed site onto another domain name, as it wouldn't be worth the hassle of trying to get google to reindex it.

Googlebot will probably be visiting both sites at least once a day so getting it reindexed is not a problem.

Putting the same content onto another domain will just move the problem to the next domain. With the new domain being doubly penalised by hosting duplicate content.

The easy solution is to sort out the 2 domains you already have. Do Yahoo and Live have the same indexing problem? - or is it just the Google gremlin haunting you? If it is the Google gremlin, you will probably see the correct URLs tomorrow.

Yahoo and msn fine - just google.

I have been waiting for google to amend for over a month , hence wanted to get it sorted.

Yahoo and MSN can take a few months to update their SERPs. If you have not changed anything with the hosting, then it can only be something unique to Googlebot. But, without knowing the URLs, I can't suggest any tests or solutions.
