Consider an affiliate site that uses the image URLs of suppliers. This will create a fairly obvious connection between affiliate site and merchant. Is it best therefore not to use merchant image URLs and load all the images onto ones own server?

your affilaite link url would make it abvious as well so it doesnt matter if you link the images from merchant stores. The benefits are that you dnt have to worry about downloading, resizing and updating but the problems i have faced is what if the merchant changes the image sizes, changes the names, merchant server slows down or moves the image in other folder. its entirely up to you and the a reliable merchant who understand these issues.
