Does anyone have an opinion on whether search engines have a preference on a domain extension?

Specifically which do people think ranks better in google; .net, .org, or .eu (ive never seen a .eu rank well)

    Thanks

For the same domain, the .co.uk TLD ranks better than the .com TLD. Both are for the UK market.

.net and .org have specific restrictions on them which probably affect their rankings if they contain the incorrect 'type' of content.

Of your choice of 3, that leaves .eu as the TLD most likely to rank well, assuming that you are promoting it widely to the EU audience and not limiting its appeal to just one country or language.

Certain TLDs start with a "watch" flag on them. They can overcome the flag by getting decent links, and not otherwise attracting SE disapproval, kind of like a suspended sentence. TLDs like .eu, .tv are known to be widely used by spammers, and therefore have the flag, but it's never an impediment to a genuinely quality site

I dont think domain name is that important. It all depends on the server IP on which your website is hosted. If its a sever having UK IP address, if your site well optimised then you are most likely to rank well in Google UK.
