Automated link building is usually frowned upon but there are other ways to save time link building, Firefox for instance has some good form filler plug ins which can save you time.
I've got some automated link building software that's predominently USA orientated. Is it worth the hassle of submitting to hundreds of American sites or shoud I focus on finding related sites in the UK to link to, to improve my page rank??
Is there any software that targets UK sites?
Is the process just manually look for the sites via google, as this seems to take ages!!

I would suggest you focus more on building links manually. Be the better judge of how and where to build your backlinks rather than leaving it up to a software.
oh dear!automated link building software
A one word answer: don't!
A longer answer - just build a good site. Try and get links from relevant directories by hand. Then if your site is good enough it'll grow organically.
I'm due to blog about how to do this today - if I can find time. It may not be easy, but its the best way.

The only safer link building softwares are the likes of Link Metro
We're relatively new to the world of SEO and had been struggling with the concept of backlinks - but we're now getting somewhere! And having been down the automated route and link exchanges etc, our only advice is - do it manually, take your time and it will pay dividends!! i was given this advice by another member on this forum, and it certainly is the way to go!
All the best,

LOL, Doug, that's not fair. These guys are mostly trying to build quality sites, not push a big red button, y'know...?
1.Get a link from the local chamber of commerce
2. Call webmasters on the phone and ask for links
3. Email webmaster and ask for links
4. Ask friends and family to link to you
5. Ask to be listed on governmental resources
6. Find articles in your niche and ask them to link to you
7. Find sites in your niche linking to dead sites, ask them to link to you instead
8. Find sites in your niche linking to inferior sites, ask them to link to you instead
9. Analyze competitors back links - Ask to be listed on there too
10. Submit to paid directories
11.Submit to free niche directories
12. Submit to the big free directories
13. Submit to free general directories - avoid directories with no editorial process.
14. Write for other sites for free
15. Create press releases
Automate all the above.

I've ditched the link building software, sorted my directory out etc.
Thanks for the advice o wise ones![]()
Thats the best option
Some more pointers for you in choosing which directories to submit to:
High PR - indication that Google sees some value in the directory.
Well maintained - listed sites are in the proper category
High Traffic - getting traffic could be minimal form directories, but majority are targeted
Kewords ranking high in SERP - Well optimized, shows that the directory is well-marketed and SEO'ed.
Which to avoid:
Link farms that pose as directories
Directories that require reciprocal links
Crappy ones with crappy sites listed
