Google does have a set of webmaster tools which can give feedback about your site and might give clues about indexing:

Hi everyone
Been here just over a week now and this is my first thread.
Really enjoying reading the info from you guys - Some of you really know your stuff.
I've just launched my first website and have a few questions about how google indexes website pages.
Hopefully you would be willing to help me out.
My pages have only started showing up on google over the last couple of days.
I have noticed that for some reason alot of my pages are only in the 'omitted results'
Why could these pages have been ommited?
Is it possibly because of repeat text throught my site?
and would getting these ommited pages effect my overall ranking?
I'm guessing the answers are yes - But I don't like guessing![]()
I would appreciate any help or further advice
Cheers
Mike

Thanks for that
Created a google sitemap the other day so I'm going to run it through and see what comes up
"Omitted results" may occur if pages are identical, but Google don't tell us how it works, so it is all speculation.
The tools suggests are a great idea.
Sure I hear what you're saying
My pages aren't exactly identical - Just small parts of text are repeated but maybe thats enough to omit the pages.
Just wondered whether these omitted pages also have a negative effect on the ranking as whole for the website?
