If it's recommendations you're after then I'd say don't use any software at all.
I agree with gadget, SEO software is generally bad news. Some of the Keyword research stuff is goof but any submission stuff is just going to be spammy
I think I must have tried them all over the years and after an initital burst of enthusiam with each I end up doing it all manually again. I did learn a lot using the various tools so I wouldn't say don't give them a try but definitely don't use any auto-submission stuff and be careful you don't run too many automated searches on the search engines.
Would you please consider removing the (nice) banner in favour of a text link in your sig?

Manual seo is only the true way to achieve decent rankings plus you learn from trial and error rather than have some software attempt it for you.

IBP - i use it for 2 years now..awesome
I've also used IBP, though I feel it's way too over priced now.
As with any software like this it has its uses and time saving applications. However I wouldn't rely solely on any SEO software nor would I entrust it to automate all my SEO strategies; some stuff just has to be done manually.
Web CEO is another product similar to IBP and I've heard good things about that too.
If I was to gauge both IBP and Web CEO on a feature per program and price per unit comparison, they both offer the same.
Put it this way. In my honest opinion for the extra 97GBP you'll pay for the standard edition of IBP your not going to receive any magical tools that you'd not receive in purchasing Web CEO.
Cheers

IBP Website promotion and SEO software tools taught me everything I needed to know, produces some good reports about a site comparing it against other sites (top 10 in whatever search engine you choose) with the same targeted keywords. Not cheap though!

There are lots of good software which helps with seo. It really depends on what area you want to focus on. There are tools which focusses on keyword research, getting backlinks, analysing backlinks, analysing competitors onpage seo etc. As for the comment above, It's likely that if you bought some good software and you have used it to little or no effect its because you don't know what you are doing with it. None of this software is magic. You still have to know how to use them. They just save you tons of time.
I use IBP also for quite a few projects, just a bit of a pain it is a single user desktop tool, if someone did a web-based version of this I'd take their arm off for it.
Software is only as good as the user, if you don't spend the time to research the sites and come up with a non-spammy angle for why they'd want to link to you, you won't get far unless you have a lot of time to waste.
It helps speed up some of the research process and keep track of where you're at on different projects though, so for that it's paid for itself a few times over already.
I'm working on something at the moment that will do the following
1) Import scraped backlinks from successful competition
2) Prioritise the list of sites by various factors (PR, Alexa, potential as a 'hub' for that niche)
3) Interface for adding contact details for the site that I can give to a grunt to do for me, and to categorise the sites as blogs, directories, forums, domain parking pages etc etc)
This will be able to be shared across several projects which is a big drawback of IBP at the moment
4) Editable email templates to start the process of contacting and requesting links
(IMHO, effort in this area is what separates the great SEO from the bad, that and being able to come up with content that people will actually want to link to)
5) Status on the link request process including reciprocal links provided, or other value given to the otehr site (content, sample product, <cough>payment</cough>)
6) Regular checking that the links are still in place
If it works I'll probably package it up for sale, but it's a long way off still. If anyone has anything like this already, please let me know before I waste my time!
Ive tried them all and i would have to agree that, its best just to do your homework and do it manually,
but if you really want to go down the software road then i personally like the programs on The Most Effective SEO Software - SEO PowerSuite Tools
you still have to do some of the work your self., I still use Rank tracker
A lot of SEO software are available in the market. But only few really deliver results.
Have you looked at Search Engine Ranking Software Features - Advanced Web Ranking and and Link Popularity Software - Advanced Link Manager
Buy those two, install Seo4firefox and Seo Toolbar for free from Aaron Wall - Free SEO Tools & Search Engine Optimization Software then you have everything you could ever hope to need. Thats all I use for tracking etc, also linkdiagnosis.com for a quick check of sites before I either buy links or the sites themselves (free again, you need to use firefox and a plugin).
Goodbye everyone, I've retired from public forums. If you know it, you can reach me on my email address. Thanks.
