301 redirect each page to the most relevant and similar current page
I have an old site that has a number of pages in the serps,
I am just changing the usage of the site so the current content etc. will be of no use,
whats the best way of dealing with google revisiting these pages and finding them not there,
just let it happen
some sort of redirect
404 error page
I have created a sitemap which I have just submitted containing the new site structure.
regards
andy

If the old content generates traffic then why get rid of it?
Simply keep the content linked from your sitemap or from a seperate navbar link.
It may not be relevent but you are still getting people to your website and there is always a way to monetize trafficthe simplest form is google adsense.
Also redirecting non relevent pages will not pass any benifit to the new pages...
I would never, ever get rid of old, unique content.
Good luck
Gary
Keep your old content (unless you're running out of disk space). You can use the older content to interlink with new articles, posts, content etc with some niche long tail keywords to help your SEO efforts![]()
