    Hi,

I have some query related to whois information. I have seen some of the websites hide their information in whois info.
    1. Is Google or other search engines take any kind of information from Whois?
    2. Is their any disadvantage of hiding whois information.

Please let me know your expert views.

    Thanks,

Yup. Google are a registrar. Fear the Google

If you do it badly, you'll get everything you own banned (and I do mean everything). Other than that, no

My understanding is that Google checks the WHOIS but I'm not exactly sure what for. I have wondered whether they may check the registrant name to clarify if links to the site are coming from your own network of sites. Then they check the length of time you have owned the domain I believe.

I understand that Google checks the WHOIS record to find out the date the domain was registered. They are actually a registrar themselves so they have full access to the info.

I always hide my details on domains as I`m privacy mad and don't like having my address out there, and don't have any problems.

It is rumoured also that buying an expired or close to expiring abandoned domain and changing the whois info may well lead to a resetting of PR etc.

Don't know how true this is, alot of 'domainers' try to change as little as possible.

Changing the Whois AND the content resets domain data in Google. The 2 do not have to happen simultaneously

Google's patented algorythm mentions the fact that registry whois data is taken into account.

However I wouldn't get too paranoid.

As long as you have less than 200 domains you won't arouse any suspicion...

If you have over 2000 I would definately separate them.

Also more than one domain with same registry details in the same niche may not be a good idea.
