Confussed with Pageranks

Hi guys
As you know seo is not one of my best areas but everyone tells me how good free traffic is so I'm giving it a go.

TBH I'm getting frustrated and confussed with google pagerank.

Focusing on 2 of my sites

Site No1
I have done very little seo on this site - It is PR1 (so all the 'checkers' tell me)
However this site receives very little traffic.

Here's whats doing my head in..........
Site No2
I have spent alot of time setting up the seo the best I can + this site has 5 times more backlinks then site1 but dispite all my efforts is PR0
However this site does receive modest traffic (which is nice)

Which site should I now spend the time on ..... and what areas should I be focusing on.

Page Rank, as you refer to it, is a measure of what the Page Rank was on one particular day - about 6 weeks ago. It's updated about once every 3 months.
So a page which had a PR3 on that day will show a PR3 for the next 3 months, even if it's real PR dropped to 0 the next day!

Use PR as a rough guide only and don't worry too much about it.

Should i be adding large amounts of content to the PR1 site which in theory ( well mine anyway ) should start picking up nicely.

Yes, you should keep your site updated, add content and ask for links. Don't rest on your laurels - you can easily find yourself PR0 if not? This makes it a lot harder to get links and stay motivated.

As mentioned i wouldnt stress to much over the page rank of your site.

Just make sure that the links you get are good quality links, its not always about the amount of links but the quality of the ones you have. Run sites through an ilq tool (see here) when getting links. it gives you a good idea of how good the quality of link is.

Ignore PR completely, total waste of time in developing a successful well established site.

i agree, most of my sites dont have pr and still do very well in terms of natural traffic and ranking in google

I could not agree with Ian-D more.

Page rank is a waste of everyones time.

The fact I have just posted this actually goes to prove it even further.

Page Rank, face, bothered, bothered...
