Inconsistent goole results question - help needed

I was wondering why, when I do a keyword search on google.com I get a first page listing in google for one of my sites keywords. However on the same day, my friend in another city in the UK, did the same search. He sees me on page 2, second from bottom?? Could this be anything to do with the fact that I have looked at my own site recently through a google link? Or can anyone explain this please?

are you logged into google mail / webmaster tools or any google service?

try logging out and searching again, or if your not ask your friend if they are.

Or it might be an Google Data Centre issue that might have been causing this kind of situation. Why dont you post your website url and the keyword on which it is ranking top in the Google.

No, you just need to be aware that there is no longer any such thing as "the Google index". It's broken into several smaller indices, and you don't always see the same data set twice in a row
