Who's this guy you have been taliking too?
I was talking to someone who I could consider a leading blogger yesterday and we were talking about various aspects of blogging and SEO.
I commented to him that my main problem is that once I have existing traffic, links to a site and visitors, etc, it is very easy to follow the correct SEO skills of content writing, monetization, etc, but the problem is how to get the site started in the first place.
We all know (or should know by now) that to get started you need to build links to your site, but that's easier said than done if nobody knows you.
He mentioned to me that finding DoFollow blogs and posting useful comments on relevant site is a great way to build natural, one-way links and get your site going.
I've turned it into an article, complete with some recommended resources, which you can check out at:
Do Follow Blog List
Have anyone has any success with this method before?

It's not anyone people would know per se, it's just someone I know who makes a near six figure income from affiliate marketing through blogging, so to me he has always been someone who I have perceived really knows his stuff! As far as I'm aware he doesn't post on here though.
Leaving comments on do follow blogs is a good method for building both backlinks as well as traffic. There are quite a few no follow blog search directories available online, but I find its better to use software to speed up the process. Recommended free software includes: Comment Kuhana, Backlink Finder and Comment Hut.
Try finding blogs which contain the Top Comentator plugin too. Sites which use this plugin usually list the people who have commented the most on their homepages. If you're on that list you get the benefit of a stronger backlink to your site, since most homepages have a higher PR than the individual post pages you leave a comment on.
Thanks for the information........
Be careful
Its easy for G to be able to see a disproportionate number of dofollow blogs coming in.

Commenting on blogs can be great, but I believe the above poster is right - you don't want to suddenly have, like, 1000 do follow blog incoming links. It's best to get these backlinks naturally over time rather than all at once and combine your backlinking strategy with other types of backlinks too (from directories, articles directories, rss directories, forums, etc.)
It's always good to mix up the type of backlinks you're getting and also be sure to seek out links from authority type sites with a high page rank as much as you can.

I've got a do follow blog on the go, just chuck us 100 words of content on something fun and I'll add it to the site, and give you a link on the right hand column (thats 2 links)
site is iwishfor.co.uk
still VERY new but working on it ranks for the John Lewis christmas commercial at the moment.
I turned comments off on all my blogs as was fed up of spam comments from other blogs. :td
