    Hi all,

got a lame question for ya.....will a SE see 'bluewidget35' the same as 'blue widget 35'? Like on our home page, if we put bluewidget35, will it count as a keyword for people searching for 'blue widget 35'??

I know it's a rubbish question, but i'm struggling to find the answer...

    Cheers,

"bluewidget35" and "blue widget 35" arn't seen exactly the same via the search engines, though there is an overlap as there would be a partial match of the three words.

For example if you searched for "Blue" then you'd have one partial match if "bluewidget35" was on your page.

If you searched for "Blue Widget" then you'd have two partial matches if "bluewidget35" was on your page.

If you searched for "Blue Widget 35" then you'd have three partial matches if "bluewidget35" was on your page.

So essentially its not the same as having the exact search term on the page, however it will still benefit you having it there to some degree.

    Thanks for all your help!

    To elaborate a little further...

If i wanted to sell Blue Widgets for 35 year olds and both the URLs www.bluewidget35.co.uk and www.blue-widget-35.co.uk were available, bearing in mind that 'blue widget 35' is more highly searched than 'blue widgets for 35 year olds', which would be the better URL to buy?

I would obviously want to get loads of instances of the key phrase into the main page, but 'blue widget 35' doesn't make any sense and the website isn't called 'blue widgets for 35 year olds'. My problem is that the ideal key phrase doesn't make much sense, so i would ideally use the name of the website in order to get it into the content, but if the name of the website is bluewidget35, then this wouldn't give a perfect match for the key phrase (or words for that matter)....just want to make sure that i understand it all fully...?

THanks again for all your help!!

    N
