OK my site that had taken me months of work and rose to number 2 for the last 3/4 weeks has now vanished. Disappeared. Gone. I've changed everything that may have been the causative factors in my lubricous efforts to rank highly, but there really wasn't that much (I know, they shouldn't have been there in the first place:blush).

What's the next step fellow affiliates? Is there anyway to contact Google? Do we have a support group on this forum for individuals who have suffered a Google slap?

    Cheers,

    TeZ:cry

put it all back as was and wait a couple of weeks - when I make a new site it ranks well pretty much instantly for a few weeks disapears and then comes back a week or two later.

Music mobile phones for instance is only a few of days old (3 I think) nice and easy one of course as is Pink Mobiles but both are on the first page of google music mobiles phones being number 3 last check yesterday it was number 10 and the day before number 4.

They will bounce around a while and then disapear and then I will be number 1

Agreed, it's all part of the process. Depending how strong the competition is, I find that this can happen frequently and can take several weeks before things settle down.
As mentioned, try not to panic and make drastic changes, just relax and develop the site in the normal manner.

Ok, so i unpicked everything I had done. Now i'm ranked 3.

Now this may sound weird but, I cancelled my ppc keyword that I had ranked for, but still had running at a lower cost. I reinstated that yesterday and now i'm back. Surely Google can't have something in place to 'kick' sites providing them with regular income streams off keywords who then go on to place high organically and subsequently cancel their ppc keyword?

People has theorised about an Adwords/Organic relationship for a long time now but there is never proof and Google do not announce such a factor.

Personally I think it's unlikely or they would promote it to make more money but there are lots of things behind the scenes we dont see.

Google is now a publically traded company. If an Adwords / organic relationship existed, senior management would be risking massive fines (even by their standards) and probably jail time, and quite a lot of it

This is the first time I've ever seen the word 'lubricous' in a forum (or, indeed, ever). Congrats, Takahashii!!!!

I don't think we'll ever prove or disprove the organic/PPC correlation theory.

If you are running background, low-cost PPC, a few more people will find your site, and CTRS and other related activity (e.g., recommendations on forums/blogs, etc resulting from this) are likely to affect your ranking.

I'd suggest you keep your PPC running, but experiment with lower bids; you can always increase the bid to the previous level if the rank goes down again. This is surely better than stopping it altogether.
