    Hi,

One way links are the most important and valuable links for a website and just a few quality one way links for site may boost rankings. Webmasters use different ways for getting one way links like

    Directry submission
    Aritcle submission
    forums
    social bookmarks
    RSS Submission etc.

What do you think which is the most effective way to get quality one way links or what way you prefer to get one way links for your site....please share.....

Sometimes simply emailing relevant site owners / editors and asking!

Comments in relevant blogs are also a good way but only really if you do have something useful to say.

There are many ways to get quality backlinks..but here are a few I use.

Emailing other website owners in your niche and asking for a backlink,
not a very good response rate but worth it.

Commenting on other related blogs, as said above you need to add
value with your comments, A one line comment saying thanks and
leaving your link will be seen as spam.

Article submission, submitting keyword targeted articles can provide
great backlinks and traffic if you target your keywords correctly.

Social bookmarking can provide you with high PR "do follow" links,
however don't do this to often else you'll find yourself banned from
    the bookmarking sites for spamming.

    just to name a few

Do affiliates still buy text links or are they a no no. Does Google know when a text link has been purchased?

I think / know many sites still use purchased Text Links.

Tried an experiment with a small site and purchased about $50 of text-links and it made a massive difference to it's placing.

I'm not 100% clued up on this - but is there a way Google could know it's purchased? I'm not so sure they could.

Are you serious? Do you suppose Google has a corporate credit card by now? Or that some of those eggheads they've been hiring over the best part of a decade might have found a way to detect unrelated links with a high rate of churn? Or is it more likely that they just went "Well, link buying taints our web graph, but, whateva. Lets go ride a Segway to the cafeteria for ice-cream"?

I think most effective way of link one way link is "Article submission". But articles should be quality and interesting.

I would recommend a best solution which is "Directory Submissions". There are thousands of directories where you can submit link for free.

A little off topic but this is interesting - does anyone do this?

We all know how google feels about site wide links - well this idea is not so much hiding them from google but only showing them to Yahoo and MSN:

When I first start, many years ago, it was all about recripical linking, then it went to one way linking via directory submissions etc, in between there were various other strats that came out from time to time.

I have a view that PR will be dropped next year, making thousands of links pretty worthless, unless they deliver you content.

I think its more important to get a ton of unique content on your site, daily updated blog and forum.

Recently, I have stopped doing much back linking, I think there are better ways, such as articles and blogs.

    Hi anujlko,

What you stated is true, one way links would provide us quality back link to the site which leads to hike in page rank. Social book marking would provide one way link and drive instant traffic to our site, but these are not permanent, as we all know. There are many more tips and tactics to be employed to build quality back links. In addition to what you have stated, I would like to add some tactics like press release, link building, and viral marketing in building the quality back links. Not necessarily. PR and trust /authority are calculated in a similar way, but from different roots, so although theres a correlation, it's fairly weak
