    Thanks for pointing that out.

Hmmm... Google don't allow us to rest for one second do they?

I envy careers where people learn skills in their twenties and then can apply what they have learned for years without having to constantly learn/devise new strategies every single month as in our industry: dentistry, law, farming, pubs etc. etc.

Here's an article on the development.

It may well be the beginining to the end of google trust if your personalised result or promoted page becomes a feedback that could affect others decisions before they take actions. Frankly I can see google subjecting itself to abuse. We all know that google's own email services is very prone to abuse and spams and have not been properly managed. now i can see same coming to the search result. lets see how it goes but i hope googles got them loads of Spamicides.

Its certainly an interesting development but i suspect we are someway of seeing major changes based on 'user' preferences, if this had a major influence on the algo not only would spammers have a field day but surely new sites would be effectively penalised significantly in the results.

Remember that this is only an option to users when they are 'signed in' to their Google account. As such, what proportion of users will be affected by this?

Azam - you'd be bored if things stood still for too long

Not forgetting that at the present this only affects your SERPS, not everyones! Nobody knows how Google will use this data in the future

I don't think this should be a big worry for us as affiliate marketers

Google keeps saying they are trying to provide the most accurate results
A system that is so open to abuse will not last very long

The concern is why are google introducing this and what are they going to use the data for?

It's been widely publicised, for a long time, that Google's long term aim is to make search very personal to the user's preferences. This is just another step along this process.

Personalised per user.... and there is no undo. Bit of a pain if you want to go play but like checking on your SERPs!

Well, Google would prefer you to check on your website's performance via webmaster tools and, I guess, they will try to make it very inconvenient to do otherwise in the not too distant future?

I agree it can be a pain but what choice have you got?
