Has anybody tried e.g. www.example.uk.com ? Do they rank well by Google?

All the others have gone .org.uk .co.uk etc, but .uk.com is there and it's £60 for 2 years. Is it worth it?

    Cheers,

    TeZ

You can rank any TLD - there's precious little difference, if you do things right. People stay away from "odd" TLDs because it makes branding harder, not for SEO issues. Don't confuse correlation for causality

there is a hierarchy though with co.uk the best for SERPS? Would you suggest .uk.com could rank just as high with the right seo?

The most important thing to rank well in google.co.uk is that you should have your website hosted on a UK based server. No matter if its .com,.co.uk or any tld.

I used to have a load of .uk.coms parked, and just about every one, over time, was banned by google. (i.e. they didn't pay out on ad revenue.)

No reasons were given, and I wasn't gaming the system in any way.

Either google doesn't like them or there is another causality !

Some have got to the top, but you don't see them often.

Bear in mind that in owning mydomain.uk.com you aren't owning a true domain name as such, you are actually being allocated a subdomain of the uk.com domain name.

So, a company owns the domain uk.com and is making money by selling subdomains of their domain. Recently, I have bought a couple to see if I can do anything with them.

I can't say how good they are but just bear in mind they are a subdomain and you may be in a weaker position, e.g. if the company went bust your domain might be affected, than if you had registered a normal top level domain.

Strictly speaking a .uk.com is'nt really a Top Level Domain.
