Impossible to say without seeing the title tags and knowning your current rankings.
If you are currently top for keyword / phrase, that people search for a lot, and you remove that from the title tag, yes you will loss traffic. And visa versa.
Hi,
I'm working on optimizing a website which used to have very long title tags i.e. 12 words long. Now I’ve reduced it to 7.
It used to be something like this:
Clients website name Ltd - Personal injury solicitors clinical negligence human rights lawyers
And now reads:
Personal injury lawyers - Clients website name solicitors
It looks better but do you think this will lose me a lot of traffic?
Sorry can't disclose actual site.

Well it looks and sounds better for one, also has what im guessing is the target term at the from of the title tag so thats good.
Think from a users point of view, look at the serps and see what others are doing as well

If anything, it should improve traffic, since you've improved the focus. Hopefully, the traffic will *also* be the traffic they want
